Has anyone been tested for Bartonella? And understand the test results? I live quite aways from the dr.s office and unfortunatley, not that easy to contact him either. I'm trying to figure out if I got Bartonella or not? I was tested thru IGeneX - at the top of the page it has: TEST NAME RESULT
B. Henselae Antibody G/M ............
Now usually IGeneX will have Negative or Positive under RESULT.
My results are: BH IgM - < 1:20 titer BH IgG - <1:40 titer Normally I would have thought thhis to be negative but in one part of the interpretation it state: In astudy performed in-house on patients POSITIVE for Borreliosis, Ehrlichiosis, Babesiosis, and normal contols by the B henselae IFA test, the IgG and IgM antibody titers for B henselae were <1:20 for IgM and <1:40 for IgG. Same as my results? I wonder what that means?
Thank you for the help!! Patti2

Hi Patti2, You may want to post your question on LymeNet because those folks are very knowledgeable about cat scratch fever and other usual co-infections of Lyme disease.

I tested negative for Bartonella, however.. I watched a tape of Burrescano "I think" from his 2004 conference and he claims 98% of people with Lyme also have some form of Bartonella.. Some of the Lyme meds I have been on will target Bartonella as well so I figure if I do have it I will get rid of it..? Or maybe I already did get rid of it? Kerry

What to do is check out thru google.. meds that will attack Bartonella H.. Or other species of Bartonella.. see if you are on any of those drugs.. My brain isnt 100% yet.. but I believe Levaquin is one of those drugs.. and I spent quite a bit of time on that one.. But it also targets Lyme.. So double check that as Ive been on so many meds I may be a bit confused.. but if so.. its a good drug to ask for.. Most LLMDs will target a broad scope tho in case they missed something.. Kerry

Hi Kerry, Dr. went ahead and started me on Doxycycline again.(Doxy is what I was taking before - for lyme) Overall, I think the doxy is doing good thou still have the nuero real bad. So you are pleased with the Levaquin? Have dr. appt Mon., I will sure ask about the levaquin! I,m all for anything that might be a little better and faster. I have dr. appt. Mon. - we will be discussing Bartonella and Nuero Transmitters test results which he said were both out of range. Dr. made the comment, about nuero transmitter test, that I was "off the chart stressed out"(Hmmm, I wonder why??)! Thanks again for the info. I feel its so fortunate to have others here to talk to, compare meds, ect......
