Hi all, I was just wondering if its possible to get Lyme from scabies. We have the scabies from outer space, or whatever it is for 7 months now and just can NOT get rid of them. I dont think its Morg's cuz there are no fibers, just bites, rashes, itching at night, etc. But the last month, we have had horrible joint pain, muscle pain, fatigue, etc. It makes fighting this sooo hard, trying to mop every day, wash clothes a couple times a day, etc, when you can barely drag yourself out of bed and then when you do, you hurt so bad. I have never felt this way, I am only 41, and its odd, becuz all four in my family are experiencing this. My sis says poo-poo, but even she is having joint/arthritis pain, she says its the weather but I say its sure weird we are ALL experiencing it at the same time, when we have never had it before. I guess it could be just that the bugs take soooo much of your energy and nutrients that your body is left starving, I just dont know any more. We are doing Ivermectin this weekend, hopefully that will alleviate things. I was totally against that at first, but at this point, bring it on. My poor mom also has them on her face, eyes, etc, which most dr's say doesnt happen. I have also had a few on my face, and in my ears. I DO wonder about Onchocerias? (river blindness) as my husband is from South America, but where do I find a dr that might know about that? Even on the internet, I find very little about it. I dont know if its transmissable from family member to member. As your know, you start researching EVERYTHING, but then thats even more scary! Thanks all. Jill

When I think back, I had neurological symptoms that could be lyme-related when I lived at my previous house ~ 7 or 9 years ago? Trouble sleeping, constantly banging my shoulders on doorways or the end of the hallway when turning, missing the garbage can even when I was standing right next to it, forgetting where I was driving to, turning around and passing the place, turning around and passing it again, etc.
When I moved to this house 6 years ago I was cleaning garbage out of an old shed and got itchy forearms. The itch was undescribably intense and I'm not one to go to the doctors for much - I once knew I had a broken bone and delayed going to the doctor for a few weeks because I hate going to doctors so much, so I can take pain - but I went to the HMO for this itchy rash (which I KNEW I got from cleaning out that shed) - I hated that itch more than going to a doctor.
The doctor diagnosed me from a distance as having scabies. I was prescribed some pills and some lindane. I looked up the pills on the internet when I got home and found out they were indicated for use as a psychological pill. I thought the pharmacy had made a mistake so I didn't take them and didn't go back to the HMO to straighten it out. I just used the Lindane as directed.
About the same time I got an infection of head lice either due to leaving my riding helmet for a week at my horse trainer's and it was used by a child (the chin strap nearly choked me when I put it on) OR about the same time, perhaps it was during a series of visits to the dentist to remove mercury fillings and replace with a composite, the dentist's shirt was always draped across my hair as he worked - and he'd go back and forth between patients so that could have been a source of head lice.
The head lice from hell. The head lice that wouldn't leave. Which I now know was the beginning stage of Morgellons for me.
Anyway, I think I may have had lyme-type neurological symptoms, then when the head lice or scabies bit me, the Morgellons symptoms started.
The scabies "appeared" to leave within some weeks, but the "head lice" took a long time to eradicate and it was only after I started the anti-candida diet and other supplements that I was able to beat that living hell.
The ear stuff has long been cleared up. The nose stuff flared up when I started the salt/vit c regimen, maybe a herx-type of reaction. The scalp and hair stuff - not as itchy or crawly, but still get scattered hair "stuff" coming out along the hair shafts from under the scalp. There's a systemic fungal infection involved.
About 9 months of diflucan, 400 mg a day, last year helped a lot. (Need to get liver checked periodically with diflucan)
The symptoms left are simply being managed while I wait for the medical and science folks to get a clue and figure this out.
There are probably more vectors for Lyme and Morgellons than are known and written of. Don't forget, some people have attributed their Morgellons to head lice, bed bugs, and other bug bites.
There are many insects known and listed as vectors for Lyme.
The possible sources are many. Once you've got it, it almost doesn't matter where it came from - except to satisfy curiosity and make environmental and lifestyle changes to prevent further infection.
The bigger problem is getting diagnosed and treated.
