I don't know if this is good news or bad news. I received a letter today from the local Department of Public Health, infectious and communicable disease division, asking me to contact them for a phone interview based on a report they received regarding my recent visit to a particular doctor. The doctor mentioned in the letter is the doctor who is treating me for Lyme/ Morgellon's disease.
I am freaked out that my medical condition was reported to a government agency by my doctor with no notice to me. I feel like my privacy has been violated. I am also upset because I no longer trust the government and am a little paranoid that at some point all of us suffering from Morgellons may be rounded up and quarantined.
On the other hand it is a good thing to see that an official government agency is finally taking notice of this horrid epidemic. Where was the CDC at the beginning of this epidemic when their efforts would have counted the most? IMO now almost everyone has been exposed and I suspect there are legions who are infected but not showing the more severe symptoms that those of us simultaneously suffering from other diseases (like Lyme or other immune damaginig conditons) show.

Maybe glenn b, all they are interested in is the Lyme.
Good luck at any case, I am sure down-deep they do not want to deal with the morgellons population, not really. Gosh I've known people who had TB, (the disease not the titer), and they were just told.. whatever... and were still running their store and trying not to cough on people.

It could be great that the local Dept. of Health is willing to look into this, and that your doctor thinks it's worth noticing, right? Maybe you'll find a warm and cooperative person on the other line. Local efforts seem like they can be more genuinely caring, I'd think. At a doctor's appointment recently the doctor hadn't heard of Morgellons, and she looked it up on the web, and said, "It says here that we should contact the CDC." So maybe your doctor was referencing the same? It seems like talking to a lawyer beforehand, and tape recording your conversations with the health department, would be a good idea. Probably not necessary, but a good security to feel relaxed...

Your doctor is required by law to report any confirmed cases of Lyme, or AIDS and some others. You have no choice in the matter. I read this while researching the western blot along time ago. Sorry no link to give, I'm tired and need sleep.
Peace, Hope

glennb,
Your doctor was obviously acting in your best interest. If only we could all be so fortunate to have someone care enough about us to report our condition to the authorities, we wouldn't be in such dire straights.

Glennb, I understand and can relate to your concerns ... but really feel this IS a good thing. It shows progress is being made and the health dept. may be following a process needed for the CDC to take this condition as serious as it should be. Contact your Physician and inquire to the nature of their communication if it will put you more at ease. But don't hesitate to follow through. I know for some it is hard to accept the positive attention they set out to get in the first place because of concerns like you mention. PMA all the way and you will do fine. Good luck and will be sending good vibes your way. ..... JJ

Glenn, take all the help we can get. At least, they are interested in speaking to you. This is huge. HUGE. Interest in this is rare. Be optimistic. Be grateful. Be love. Love can change things. Show the Health Dept. some love -- call them back. Please.

Thanks, we were lucky. Have my own meteorologist who calls it better than any on the tube. We watched them go north and south of us throughout the day. Others weren't so lucky. Hope other posters in our area check in and let us know their OK..... JJ

If you got a letter, it seems to me that they all ready have your address, why would they tip you off, that they know about you, when they have come to your house instead. I would think it could become some help to you. But that is just a guess! Good luck with it friend.

Ridgewalker as guest - I have been in contact with the CDC and FINALLY got some personal responses. They have deemed Morgellons "Worth of Investigation". An alert was issued that phsyicians treating suspected Morgellons patients (usuing practically word for word the MRF case definition) are to report it to their local and State Health Dept. and the Health Dept. on to the CDC, so the CDC could begin to log patients and get a count. In my recent letter to Senator Coburn's office I mentioned a flaw in the formula. They apparently didn't notify the medical community or the health depts since no one was taking action. This sounds like a concerned and informed physician who is trying to comply with the alert. I would tend to see it as a good thing. I know I'll go to mine if I could get their darn attention. Good luck and keep us posted! They can't round us up...........they're too many of us!

I imagine the government will eventually subpoena the registration records from websites like this one. We will all be "found out"--perhaps they will quarantine us. Whatever "they" do, I don't believe it will be in our best interest. Likeley we will be examined and tested on in the interest of the military--the same way the Nazis used on Jews. Wish I could be more positive. Ladybug
