Hey Tonster, thanks for the new link, wonder why that other one didn't work...MSM has many beneficial effects on the body and it's been one of my daily supplements all along this 'mess' since I heard morgs hate sulphur but after reading this I'm not sure if the capsules is the right 'stuff'´anymore. Are you taking MSM in capsule form or the natural crystal form and do you think it really matters?.... ...and yeah!..my Vegas Kitty..haha..isn't she purdy..?? :DJeany Hi Jeany, Gosh, I sure didn't know "there was a difference", but after reading what you wrote, I see there seems to be. I take Swansons Brand...and I really don't know what it is except it's MSM in capsules and I've opened the capsules as they're pretty large, and they're crystally, like salt granules or sugar is. As for "do I think they help"....I'd say probably. And I'm only going on that people around me seem to be with a lot of body aches and things, and we (me and Mr T) don't have joint pains, or anything like that happening, but we do take this supplement (one a day) for the longest time. I have for many years (before Morgs) learned about how the bodies cells need this, and it helps with inflamation too, (not that we have inflamation) but....it was the cells I took it for. Anything that preserves and maintains "healthy cells" I've been into for a long time, and MSM does that, and since everything teeters on our cells being able to keep the matrix of the body in tact, or succumb to problems... I just sort of "go with that" in that if it's cellular strengthening, I take it. I'd read a book many "moons ago" hahah it was a while back, I think in the 80's, called Life Extension. That book is what kicked off my craving to learn about "cells" and what and how does what. That's when I realized, those "little guys" dictate it all...and the best thing a person can do is protect them, with anti oxidants, and foods or supplements to keep them working at their best. Those focused efforts pay off in just maintaining preservation and help to ward off cell distruction by, well, just about everything we're exposed to. And yep, your avitar kitty is as puuurdy as can be

Iodine for Radiation Exposure: Practical Solutions You Need to Know www.naturalnews.com/031715_iodine_radiation.html"There is absolutely zero chance that this disaster in progress is going to stop now or any time soon, so precautions need to be taken right away by every citizen in the northern hemisphere that is downwind and on the track of the jet stream that will quickly carry radioactive materials first to North America then to Europe and beyond to Russia. This is all going to be much worse than people want to believe, so rush to get your iodine right now! Get your hands on whatever you can for in a few days there will be no iodine to have of any type." "After testing over 500 patients, I found that 94.7 percent of my patients are deficient in inorganic iodine. - Dr. David Brownstein" (hmm..and why?..because Fluoride in the drinking water and toothpaste etc. depletes Iodine! Of course 'they're' not telling the people THAT! )

Iodine protects thyroid and glandular system from radiation damage: Here's where to get some www.naturalnews.com/031708_iodine_radiation.htmlAbout radiation exposure, he explains: "If there is enough inorganic, non-radioactive iodine in our bodies, the radioactive fallout has nowhere to bind in our bodies. It will pass through us, leaving our bodies unharmed. It is important to ensure that we have adequate iodine levels BEFORE this fallout hits. What Dr. Brownstein is explaining is that you must get iodine in your body BEFORE being exposed to radiation.

Yes, Jeany - I'm impressed with how quickly the German people rally around these important environmental issues. I heard that 100,000 people protested and 10,000 stayed after the protest... the German government ended up shutting down several facilities at the demands of the people. 12 March 2011 www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-12724981"We know how safe our plants are and that we do not face a threat from such a serious earthquake or violent tidal wave..." Angela Merkel She sounds pretty confident, doesn't she... hmmm?

Looking at our Methylation Pathways as Lynn suggested might help us in getting better: Alternative Treatments for Anxiety, Depression, and Stress-Related Disorders: Dr. Podell’s Perspective on Brain, Mind, and Mood www.drpodell.org/alternative_treatments_for_depression.shtml"The unstated assumption of most conventional strategies is that mind and body function separately. Each organ of the body is largely on its own. However, current science shows that just the opposite is true. from above:
"System X: Metabolism Nutrition-How Mitochondria produce energy for the brain
The Science: The body's chemistry requires continuous energy every minute of our lives. We store this energy primarily within a small molecule called ATP. Mitochondria, tiny organs within cells, are where we make this ATP. The active brain requires a major share of this energy. Several neurological and metabolic diseases reflect damage to the mitochondria and their energy production.
Production of biochemical energy requires collaboration among a broad team of nutrients including Vitamins C, E and A, glutathione, Co-enzyme Q, L-Carnitine, lipoic acid, Riboflavin, and NADH (ENADA). Deficits in any of these can affect total energy output.
What We Might Do: We usually cannot measure the specific function of mitochondria, so we might cast a broad nutritional net to cover many of the elements that might need support. Please see our discussion of chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia for more on improving mitochondrial energy."

www.knowyourgenetics.com/The%20Methylation%20Pathway.html"What is the methylation pathway? This pathway in your body has ties to most major diseases including: • Heart disease • Stroke • Cancer • Diabetes, • MS • Alzheimer’s disease • ALS • Parkinson’s disease • Huntington’s disease • CFS/FM • Mitochondrial disease • SLE, neural tube defects • Miscarriages • Down’s syndrome • Bipolar disorder • Schizophrenia • Repair of tissue damage • Proper immune function • The aging process • Autism Methylation acts as an on/off switch that allows the body to learn how to respond to environmental change. It represents the only cellular pathway that effects both adaptability and structural integrity of the body. Like the simple water molecule, methyl groups are necessary for life. This pathway is directly related to most major chronic conditions. Using our knowledge of the methylation cycle, we assess your results and provide suggestions to help support a healthy body and mind." www.knowyourgenetics.com/The%20Methylation%20Pathway_files/diagram-1.jpg

www.knowyourgenetics.com/Understanding%20the%20Basics.html"What is Nutrigenomics? Nutrigenomics is the study of molecular relationships between nutrition and the response of genes, with the aim of extrapolating how such changes can affect human health. According to the National Center of Excellence in Nutritional Genomics at UC Davis, “The science of nutrigenomics seeks to provide a molecular understanding for how common dietary chemicals (i.e., nutrition) affect health by altering the expression and/or structure of an individual’s genetic makeup. Just as pharmacogenomics has led to the concept of ‘personalized medicine’ and ‘designer drugs’, so will the new field of nutrigenomics open the way for ‘personalized nutrition.’ In other words, by understanding our nutritional needs, our nutritional status, and our genotype, nutrigenomics should enable individuals to manage better their health and well-being by precisely matching their diets with their unique genetic makeup.” How do I know what my genetic differences are? The rapid increase in environmental toxins in recent decades has surpassed the body’s natural ability to adapt and detoxify. Now more than ever, genetic differences responsible for proper methylation are insufficient to protect the body. This results in an ever increasing incidence of chronic conditions. Nutrigenomic testing provides a revealing look at your unique genetic blueprint. This comprehensive look of the methylation pathway enables us to assess an individual’s genetic differences and develop an individualized nutritional wellness program to aid detoxification and support your genetic and cellular memory system- a personal roadmap for optimal health in today’s toxic environment. Genetic differences or mutations, are they normal? Yes! Our individuality is based on our unique genetic differences. Scientists confirm that the body’s biochemistry can balance most mutations by modifying the cellular memory system; even if you have been dealt a bad hand genetically, you don’t have to lose the game."

www.genetics.org/cgi/content/full/174/3/1161A Histone Methylation-Dependent DNA Methylation Pathway Is Uniquely Impaired by Deficiency in Arabidopsis S-Adenosylhomocysteine Hydrolase "S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase (SAH) is a key enzyme in the maintenance of methylation homeostasis in eukaryotes because it is needed to metabolize the by-product of transmethylation reactions, S-adenosylhomocysteine (AdoHcy), which causes by-product inhibition of methyltransferases (MTase's). Complete loss of SAH function is lethal. Partial loss of SAH function causes pleiotropic effects including developmental abnormalities and reduced cytosine methylation." Questions: S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase (SAH)? pleiotropic effects Lynn, I just studied pleiotropic effects on the other site - this is when one gene can create different traits (or symptoms) in people. It might partially explain why we all have slightly different symptoms. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleiotropy

Search - 'S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase' en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HypermethioninemiaPathophysiology Inherited hypermethioninemia that is not associated with other metabolic disorders can be caused by shortages in the enzymes that break down methionine. These enzymes are produced from the MAT1A, GNMT and AHCY genes. The reactions involved in metabolizing methionine help supply some of the amino acids needed for protein production. These reactions are also involved in transferring methyl groups, consisting of a carbon atom and three hydrogen atoms, from one molecule to another (transmethylation), which is important in many cellular processes. The MAT1A gene provides instructions for producing the enzyme methionine adenosyltransferase. This enzyme converts methionine into a compound called S-adenosylmethionine. The GNMT gene provides instructions for making the enzyme glycine N-methyltransferase. This enzyme starts the next step in the process, converting S-adenosylmethionine to a compound called S-adenosyl homocysteine. The AHCY gene provides instructions for producing the enzyme S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase. This enzyme converts the S-adenosyl homocysteine into the compound homocysteine. Homocysteine may be converted back to methionine or into another amino acid, cysteine. A deficiency of any of these enzymes results in a buildup of methionine in the body, and may cause signs and symptoms related to hypermethioninemia."

There are two different ways to lower Homocysteine levels. The first is by decreasing the intake of the amino acid (Methionine) that your body uses to make Homocysteine. The second is by increasing the intake of chemicals your body uses to process Homocysteine into Cysteine, the useful and healthy form of the amino acid. Decreasing your intake of Methionine, the precursor of Homocysteine, means limiting your consumption of Fish, other seafood, certain cheeses, and red meats. Eating chicken, beans, and nuts will insure your body get the other amino acids you need while still reducing your methionine intake. In adults who experienced high levels of Homocysteine in their blood because of a poor eating habits, this diet only needs to be temporary. In children or babies with the genetic disorder leading to high Homocysteine levels, this diet will be part of their lives forever." Signs and Symptoms of Elevated Homocysteine Levels www.associatedcontent.com/article/5676088/signs_and_symptoms_of_elevated_homocysteine.html?cat=5Signs and Symptoms of Elevated Homocysteine Levels: Blood Clotting When you have elevated homocysteine levels, excessive blood clotting in the vein can occur. Blood clots can decrease or block blood flow through blood vessels in the body. When blood clots, your risk of having a stroke or heart attack increases. Strokes can result from a decrease in blood flow to the brain. A heart attack can result from the heart muscles not receiving enough blood supply. Signs and Symptoms of Elevated Homocysteine Levels: Osteoporosis Osteoporosis is a condition characterized by bone loss and it can occur when homocysteine levels are elevated. When these levels are elevated, this amino acid can hinder the bones from absorbing minerals, especially calcium. A disruption in the body's collagen-forming process can also occur, increasing your chance of developing osteoporosis. Signs and Symptoms of Elevated Homocysteine Levels: Alzheimer's Disease Several studies have proven that there is a link between elevated homocysteine levels and Alzheimer's disease. However, why elevated levels of this amino acid can cause this disease is not fully understood by scientists. Signs and Symptoms of Elevated Homocysteine Levels: Eye Disorders When levels of this amino acid is high, certain eye disorders can occur. Such disorders can include retinal damage and loss of vision. Retinal damage occurs when the retina's neuronal network is damaged. Signs and Symptoms of Elevated Homocysteine Levels: Miscarriage"

Hi Kammy
Wow alot of on the Methalation you have come up with lately. Thank you. I hear Fritto had a four page spread on info also that is well put together, but MDR seems to always be in a down situation and I can never get into the site to read what she has on the whole issue.
I am learning though that correcting the methalation pathways is very dangerious, but needs to be done for some of use to get well. Even if you do it naturally thourgh foods/diet.
Thank you again for the links and info. In Light Lynn

Hi Kammy
B-12s also part of the Cs range. Look up C-22 to see what I mean. The Bs come up so often in any aspect and alot in the correction of the Methalation Pathways. This makes me have to get on my soap box a little.
Here goes. Even though we can not always afford to go completly organic. I mean real organic and not half way pretenders in the market. Dr. Shultz puts out a magazine and I have bought products from him before bugs when I was trying to correct all the weird side effects. Like everything tasting really salty, intestinal pain and other things. Well in a article he saw a word int the B vitamins that confused him and he went to visti a factory that Manufactors the B-12s. He asked about what this word meant. He had to go through a few people before he got the right person and got them to actually tell him right out what was really what. Well part of the B vitamin is cheaply purchased from Human Waste plants. So in a way we are polluting our body as we try to give it some sort of health. Back then I bought all the store bought vitamins thinking something is better than nothing. Boy was I wroung. Now I take organic as I can get in every vitamin and stay away from the cheap store bought stuff. Wow what a difference in health did that make.
Even with all my effort I still am not 100 percent organic. I probably am only 50 percent, but not from lack of trying. Just need to give a heads up to those who might think the way I did and think something is better than nothing. Okay I will get off the soap box. ;D
