Friski, I'm telling you I HATE DOCTORS and I hate going to the doctor and will avoid it at all cost!!! So far for me, Kaiser has slowly been removing that fear from me. They've been fabulous and they make things SO FLIPPIN' convenient!!! I really like my kids woman Dr. and my guy at first I didn't really care for the but the last couple times I had to deal with him I realized it was probably me and see that he's a pretty cool dude. They're expensive but my experience up here has been very good and I wouldn't do that lightly. They've got all your stuff online. You can order refill meds online and they'll just send them to you. Many times they offer if you'd like to see if the Doc will hook you up with meds with out having to see you! How do you like that? Ha! They never did that at my sons last place, always had to get the money!!! Not saying Kaiser isn't greedy 'cause I don't honestly know and the premium is expensive but yeah, I'm totally digging them.

Not only do I like them Friski, I've considered this. They are doing the investigative study on Morgs. When they're done and they find what they find I'm sure all Kaiser's are going to know about Morgs. I mean, the docs around now are probably not familiar but I like to think that when this is all over, hopefully something substantial may be found, may not but I hope they do connect it with Lyme so my son can get some more help then I can get him now. Just a thought...! If they find something out about Morgs and it's published and accepted it'll be so much easier to get help through Kaiser, at least I like to think so.

Carrie Thats great your so happy with Kaiser too! And those were my thoughts also about Kaiser doing the study on morgellons, being a good thing. They may not find a cure but they are bound to find something Im pretty confident too because we all cant be just "delusional" ! JJ Thanks for passing that info along!! Im glad these big insurance companys are getting busted and the truth has been exposed. But why are they still in business is my question? I think instead of being fined they should be in prison and shut down.........no sympathy whats so ever from me!

hi friskers, do u mind if i spout off here about my dad's (and our) experience with anthem/blue cross/blue shield? 1998, my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer in his liver, stomach and gall bladder. his doc, in a last ditch effort to save his life, sent him to james cancer center in columbus ohio (great place btw!) they did an experimental treatment on him that might have saved him if it hadn't already been too late. he ended up dying a few months later anyway......but not before the docs at james did a test that proved that the treatment he had received WAS actually reducing the number of cancer cells in his blood. less than a month later we (his 3 daughters) received a bill in the mail from james cancer center for $185,000 for this treatment. anthem/bc/bs (bs is right!) wasn't going to pay for the treatment! why? because it was experimental! we fought them, of course, and won! 6 months later, they actually ended up paying, because the docs at james had PROVEN that the treatment was actually helping him, and doing what it had been supposed to do. if we had been forced to pay that bill, we would all have been financially devastated for the rest of our lives! but they don't care! our health care/insurance system in this country is an absolute wreck! ok i'm done now, lol!
hugs, silverangel

That's who we have too Friskers (double Blue Cross/Blue Shield)...they're sure all outrageous.
I'd called last year shopping, and I think just for myself, one Ins. co wanted 700 something per month for just one person! And it's not like I'm sickly either. It's pure insanity the cost of everything, I mean it's ALL out of control.

Yep and BC/BS cancelled me in December ( the exact day I had a MRI done )............... go figure!
Though my employer told me in advance that my MRI was 100% covered, on that very day of my MRI, (because the letter was dated the same day) was sent to me certified in December of 2008 telling me I was cancelled and now I'm considered a "part time" employee with no benefits!

Rrrraaaaaaahhhhhh! Kmarie that makes me furious. Today, this whole thread makes me angry. What the hell are people supposed to damn do?
Silverangel, you too! Ewe greed is so at the heart of all this.
And I've thought about that Friski...after I posted the last couple posts here. We've had major winds here and haven't had cable or internet connection so I couldn't come back soon enough to respeak what I spoke.
I like Kaiser enough...I mean I'm digging them but all in all it's still WRONG! Universal health care is really what should be happening.
Not because I'm poor and can't afford it but because of the horror stories and the major expense and necessity it is.
Police, fire, rescue, government, education, those are essential services. Why we stop at high school is beyond me but we are now seeing as we fall further and further down the food chain how much GREED is helping us ease our way down the chain.
Yeah, I like Kaiser but I'd like to see it all be done away with. Essential services shouldn't be so damn profitable unless it serves the wealthy. Fine some folks have the luxury to send their children to Yale and it can remain that way but basic education through a Bachelors should be FREE! Health care should be FREE!!! If you can afford prime optimum so be it but at least let people be f@cking human and get some health care. BS! I can't wait to watch the next four years...damn I hope he gets it right!!! We need some f@cking compassion for our people, sick bullsh@t I hear around here makes me nauseous.

Carrie,
I have read what you've written about Kaiser and it does indeed sound VERY good and VERY organized.
I am so glad that you and your children are covered. When my daughter was young, I always had to make sure to have good coverage and you (Carrie) are a very good "Mommie".
I say Mommie cuz, recently............ I was reading some stuff my daughter wrote to me and that is what she called me and after all these years.............gosh I ALMOST forgot. AND, I gotta say that is NOT a memory that I care to forget.
Being a "Mommie" is the best job of all and an honor.
Enjoy being "mommie" Carrie and you (from what I can read here) must be a very good one!

Carrie, one more comment on your post regarding UNIVERSAL health care, as a working RN myself, I would GLADLY take a cut in pay if it meant EVERY ONE received equal quality health care. Can't wait for OBAMA to come out with this full plan on that!

Ant No worrys I was just razzin you.... and wanted to make sure I hadnt said anything to frighten you! ;D I cant always controle what come out of my mouth Keeping up with all communications is time consuming and tiresome sometimes I understand Toni 700 a month OMG!! I am curious now if bluecross paid all your hospital bills when you were in not too long ago? I sure hope so! Kmarie Well that does suck ,did they pay your MRI or no? Carrie Soory I didnt mean to get everyone all teed off here !! Im not defending insurance co but part of the reason everythings so screwed up is some doctors taking advantage of insurance so. I know because i worked for several chiroprators and one had to spend prison time for tax evation and insurance fraud. And I saw how people who were already better were still getting treatment only because the insurance was still paying. And just like you said it all comes down to greed. i worked for one chiroprator who billed out massages for 75 and paid me only 20! All he did was provide the room. i call that greed too1 It is a mess.......Ive heard Mexico has way better health care than the US!

That's exactly what Kaiser is, a well organized business Kmarie. I understand there has to be a business aspect to health care but because like Friski says, so many abusing the system, taking advantage of insurance, thinking only of SELF our country as a whole suffers as do it's people. It really makes me sad. For that reason, it really shouldn't be a business.
Imagine having to pay out of pocket for police and fire assistance. Ha ha! Really. "Oh, I'm sorry Ma'am, you didn't pay your premium so we're going to allow your home to burn to the ground. And you have children inside...we'll pray for ya!?!" That's how insane health premiums and insurance sounds to me!!!
Oh you have an intruder inside your home while you're hiding in the closet? Haha...hope you survive beotch! Those policy officers have a salary to make, better pay your premium or die. I'm holding out for the "Audacity of Hope!"
So then you turn to neighbor hood gangs for protection because you can't afford to pay your police premium. That in turn makes matters worse, creating more mob crime, making a higher need for the police, needing more police, costing more money. That's what it does. People can't afford health care, end up in our emergency rooms all over the country, not paying their bills driving up the costs for every one. If they'd have just never let the greedy corporate bastards in the door from the gate and considered the best for the people and done the right thing. All across the board I guess...doing the right thing for the people, not ones self. That's going to be our demise if we don't get it right. I am very passionate about these things today...global warming, doing the right things ain't no joke. So we won't see it in our life times but if we don't get it right, our children will pay a high price.
Kmarie, I'd do the same thing, in a heartbeat and we're in the lowest wage earners in the country. I'd much rather pay even more taxes if it offered more assistance to people who need it. I work in an industry today that lets me see all those people that need it and what a double edge sword. The same thing that makes you laugh, makes you cry. I can help so many people find and sustain affordable housing and I have to turn so many people away and even as I recently done had to throw them out, sick, disabled people with no one to turn to and no where to go.
You like that Bitchology huh? Me too. Thanks Daryl...he did that. What a compliment huh!?!
Ah and thanks, I'll take that. I'm by far a perfect Mommy but I am a good Mommy and Mommying is my life. I know it will be gone in just a few more blinks of my eyes so I'm a sponge and sucking up every irritating bit of them!!! My daughters friends are over this morning, spent the night last night and I suck 'em down...love their faces while I got 'em.
Friski...you certainly didn't get anyone teed off! The system did. You know what irritates me the most is that I know I'm considered poor right but I have everything I need as do my children. We don't want for nothing. And I make NOTHING! For a family of three in my city I'm at the 50 percentile. I have cable, heat, I'm able to feed my kids, pay my car insurance and drive. My kids have luxuries that a lot of other kids have and some that other kids don't have. My folks help with that but still. We're living life, not like it's a constant struggle monthly to make ends meet and we're okay. I can't imagine WHY all the hast about spreading the love around. I don't understand why and how some people in our country are so full of hate and fear and can't help their neighbors even if it means hundreds out of their pockets. I see so many suffer daily. I've had to help my neighbor pay her rent many times, because she needed it and no one else would have helped her...not ever her god loving goody high preaching church. Our priorities are all screwed up and it angers me...I so hope to see a change in people around me. This thread, health insurance is part of that whole screwed up scenario that is at the bottom of the FALL OF OUR PEOPLE in this country...so it's a total button pusher. You shouldn't have to pay or worry so much about something that should be an essential service. I would pay HIGHER TAXES if it meant that we all have the comfort to know that we will have our basic health needs met. And I'm poor. That says a lot about our home...that we that feel that sense of one are of the major majority. That the greedy John McCain and Sarah Palin, the god loving christian preaching, do the right thing are so against the poor, enabling the rich to keep inheriting 90% of our countries money as the poor slip further and further into the depths of a hell that no matter what you do you can't climb out because you are sick, disabled or just because NO ONE taught you any different, any better because the people around you never had hopes or dreams or wanted better for you. Who's fault is that and why must those children suffer? Oooh did I spout off again...? Gosh, don't get me started...! Dr. King has a dream today...I hope we see it come to bear fruit in the next chapter of our country history, herstory, our damn story.

Carrie,
When I was an apartment manager, I had to do lots of things that broke my heart. Fortunately, the owners gave me a lot of Leway (sp) and so I had a young man of only 20 years with a non=working wife and two kids........... Since he was a plumber, I gave him many discounts and he in turn was there for plumbing emergencies. I had others who cleaned the hallways for me and I gave them a rent discount. IT helped all the way around, cuz I was in Nursing school and a single mom and it "just made things work out" for the best for everyone.
It helped them, it helped me and I never lost (profit) cuz I would have had to pay a plumber or a carpenter or what ever. In fact, when renting to people, if they were like say "an electrician" and I need one.............I gladly let them have the apartment and in turn they saved me overhead.
I did that for 7 years and really enjoyed it. If I could find a job like that again, I sure would do it. I did it even after I graduated Nursing School. Until they sold the apartments to a tight-As$ who increased EVERYONE's rent by $100.00 when their leases expired.
